Performance dates are September 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 & 29, 2019 @ RHP in Hemet
The audition will consist of cold readings from the script. Please come prepared with a resume, headshot, pen/pencil, and a list of conflicts.
PLOT:
An odd assortment of characters are passengers on an ocean liner, but no one can remember where they’re headed. The lovers have a secret that no one can know; the society lady can’t accept that there is only one class on board and she has to share a table with a low-brow charwoman for dinner; the young man drinks too much but sees through everything, and the mysterious ship steward seems to be the only crew member. When it’s revealed that the ocean liner is headed for Judgment Day, each person plots to ensure a heavenly afterlife. But the Examiner who decides their fate is not willing to bargain. Outward Bound explores mortality and morality with light touches of social commentary and gallows humor.

Scrubby [Age 55 -60] Ship’s Steward/Barman
Reposed, calm, quietly spoken and helpful.
Ann [Age 25-30] Henry’s wife?
Very protective of (and seemingly stronger than) Henry. Quietly spoken, edgy, nervous and mysterious.
Henry [Age 25-30] Ann’s husband?
Dazed, mystic, quietly emotional, serious and sincere,
Tom Prior [Age 30ish] Public School education
Pleasant personality but a bit of a waster. Highly strung, nervy, heavy drinker [to drown his various failings] .
Mrs. Cliveden-Banks [Age Mid 50’s]
A class conscious, snobbish socialite. A schemer, a beautiful woman who entrapped her husband and others.
Mrs. Midget [Age Mid 50’s} A Charwoman, with simple needs.
Motherly, very humble, feels out of place on the liner, sweet, sincere, has a heart of gold.
Mr. Lingley [Age 55-60] A Business-man.
Rude, arrogant, unpleasant and self-opinionated.
Rev Duke [Age 30ish] A Clergyman.
Sincere, earnest, pleasant, personable, an organizer.
Rev Thomson [age 50 plus] A Clergyman. THE EXAMINER.
Cheerful, amiable, pleasant, sincere and honest.
