Several seasons ago I submitted to the Ramona Hillside Players a copy of Richard Everett’s delightful comedy “Entertaining Angeles.” This is a one set, small cast play that I thought would of interest to the Board but I never heard anything back. There is a copy somewhere at the theatre. I would be interested in directing it but I am cautious about my lack of directing experience; that is, it has been over 50 years since I have directed a play and that was in college. Since then I have directed several fund-raisers at CalState San Bernardino involving my one-act plays.

Furthermore, I have submitted to RHP my latest play “The Great Algonquin” that I could direct if no one else wanted to. It would be a world premiere for RHP; however, it did have a staged reading by a group in Maryland and the director emailed me that it would a hit – the audience loved it. Seeing how successful my play “Divorce Sale” was for RHP, I would hope it would be seriously considered for production.

    Thank you, Linda

      Hi Linda,
We receive various play submissions from time to time. While we do our best to look over them, not every submitted play makes it past the submission process. When we put out a call for directors, we ask that they present us with the plays they would like to direct. On rare occasions, we don’t choose any of the plays the directors submitted but offer them the opportunity to direct a play of our choosing. So the best bet to getting your play’s produced is to have a director attached to it like what happened with “Divorce Sale” when Vesta took on directing duties. Not having directing experience isn’t a deal-breaker, so we will place your name and your plays up for consideration.

I’d be interested in directing KIND SIR in the 5th spot of a season. Two other plays I would consider are SORRENTO BEACH and THE DEEP BLUE SEA.
